Amex Membership Rewards points: where to start

The simplest redemption, the Shop with Points discount, is worth 0.4 cents per point (10,000 points = 40 euros, minimum 200 points). A transfer to an airline programme is worthwhile only if the calculator above gives you a higher value after applying the transfer ratio.

How it worksOpen

(cash price − award taxes and fees) ÷ points required × 100

The result is in cents per point. The cash price is the fare you would actually have chosen, including taxes.

Opportunity cost

Paying cash earns points that a redemption does not. In the advanced section, you can assign them your own value. This is a personal assumption, not a market figure.
